Meeting with Johanna Beyer, Director of BARNES Saint-Germain-des-Prés.Could you introduce yourself in a few words? How was your office created?
My name is Johanna Beyer, I joined BARNES 14 years ago, in the early years of BARNES’ development in Paris. I have always worked at BARNES Rive Gauche in Paris and am now a real specialist in this district. The Left Bank agency was the second opening after that of Neuilly, the initial parent company. Its rapid development has allowed it to split into 2 offices covering the major districts of the Left Bank: the 6th and the 7th arrondissements. I took over the management of the agency on Rue Bonaparte, as well as the management of the Patex team doing the promotion of pieds-à-terre.
The Left Bank is an important stake for BARNES. This district perfectly embodies the company’s DNA: an exceptional destination in a major international city, a French and international clientele, with strong purchasing power, demanding and passionate about the French Art of Living.
Buyers do not choose to settle in the 6th or 7th arrondissements randomly. It is an emotional pull to a certain state of mind specific to the Left Bank neighborhood. How is your office structured and what areas do you cover today?
We cover the 6th and 7th arrondissements of Paris with our office on rue du Bac. The office is structured around two teams, the first manages properties of less than 70 square meters (753 sq. ft.) and the second properties of more than 70 square meters (753 sq. ft.), i.e. a total of 25 employees.
What types of services do you offer?
We offer personalized support. Each project is considered with a “tailor-made” approach, whether it is a sale or a purchase of a main or secondary residence. For each client, it is in fact a life project for which our office offers personalized support, and provides advice and recommendations ranging from brokers, attorneys, movers to house design and renovation. We ensure the smooth running of each step of the sale or purchase process.

Saint-Germain-des-Prés represents a major asset for foreign customers, who have been among our buyers for a long time. All nationalities are represented, but we meet a majority of American clients. This foreign clientele is usually looking for large apartments, spectacular views, atypical properties, in a neighborhood with a village feel in the heart of Paris. These properties are rare, and the demand is high. The prices are therefore the most expensive in Paris in the 6th and 7th arrondissement.
